UK Visa Tier system
Tier 1
This is also called as the Investor/Entrepreneur Visa Scheme. This category is for 'high-value migrants' from outside the EEA and who wish to invest a minimum sum of £2 million in the UK. The UK Innovator visa scheme replaced the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa scheme On 29 March 2019.
Tier 2
This visa is for 'skilled workers' from outside the EEA with a job offer in the UK from a Tier 2 Sponsor. It includes skilled workers who are transferred to the UK by an international company via the Tier 2 Intra-Company Transfer visa route. This visa also covers the skilled workers whose occupation is in the shortage occupation list of the UK; like the nurses.
Tier 3
This visa was designed for low-skilled workers filling specific temporary labor shortages in the UK. The Government has so far never allocated any visas under this scheme. Unfortunately, this means that you cannot apply for the Tier 3 visa scheme. This visa scheme may be forfeited completely in the future month's post Brexit transition.
Tier 4
This visa is for students from outside the EEA who wish to study in the UK. All student applicants must have a valid offer letter post-admission from a registered educational institution in the UK.
Tier 5
This visa is for 6 subcategories like creative and sporting professionals, charity, religious workers, and of the youth mobility scheme workers coming to the UK on a government-authorized exchange scheme. This visa enables them to gain work experience, training, and academic research or fellowship and to be a part of the overseas government language training programs.
