UK Skilled Worker Visa: Lists of jobs that will not allow dependants after the 22nd of July 2025

ree

The UK Home Office introduced important changes to the Skilled Worker immigration rules in its Statement of Changes (HC 997), effective from 22 July 2025 . A major impact is the tighter control over dependants, here’s what applicants need to know.

Dependants Allowed Only for Higher-Skilled Roles

If your first Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) is assigned on or after 22 July 2025, you may bring dependants only if your job falls under specific eligible occupation codes. These roles are typically at RQF Level 6 or above and are listed in the appropriate sections of the Skilled Worker appendix (see tables below).

These occupations reflect higher-skilled, graduate-level positions that continue to qualify for family accompaniment under the new rules.

Roles Below RQF 6 are Excluded

If your role is below RQF Level 6 and your first Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) is issued on or after 22 July 2025, you will not be permitted to bring dependants. This restriction applies to jobs that fall under the Temporary Shortage Occupation List, the Immigration Salary List, or are categorised under lower-skilled occupation codes, as outlined in the tables below.

These changes primarily impact roles within the health and care sector, along with other support-level positions.

Important Note on SOC Code 6131 – Nursing Auxiliaries

If your job falls under SOC 6131 (Nursing Auxiliaries and Assistants) and your Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) is assigned after 22 July 2025, you will not be eligible to bring dependants. This is because the role is classified as below RQF Level 6, is listed on the Immigration Salary List, and is included within a restricted occupation group, as outlined in the tables below.

Already Have a CoS Issued Before 22 July?

If your first CoS was issued before 22 July 2025, these changes do not apply to you. You can continue to bring dependants under the existing Skilled Worker visa rules, regardless of your job code or occupation level.

The updated rules aim to prioritise family migration benefits for those in higher-skilled roles. If you're applying for a Skilled Worker visa from 22 July onwards, it’s essential to check where your occupation falls in the job code listings before planning to bring family members with you.
